Gooseberry Green Juice / Nellikkai Juice

Want a all season juice? The gooseberry juice is one such juice which you can use without adding ice. So you can serve it for children and old people. If you use it regularly health benefits are high.



Ingredients:
Gooseberry
2
Mint / Puthina Leaves
5
Coriander Leaves
1 tbsp
Curry Leaves
½ spring
Cumin Seeds
½ tesp
Pepper Corns
¼ tesp
Coriander Seeds
½ tesp
Ginger
¼ inch
Palm Sugar Candy / Panagarkandu
2 tbsp

Procedure:
1. Wash and remove the seeds from the gooseberries.
2. Wash all the leaves and keep it aside.
3. Now grind all the ingredients with little water into fine paste.
4. Strain the juice with juice strainer and serve it either chill or as it is.

Gooseberry Rice / Nellikkai Satham

This is healthy and yummy rice. 




Ingredients:
Goosebery / Nellikkai (grated)
¼ cup
Cooked Rice
1 cup
Salt
As required
To Temper

Oil
1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds
1/4 tesp
Urad Dal
½ tesp
Curry Leaves
1 spring
Red Chilly
2-3
Chana Dal
1 tbsp
Roaseted Groundnut
1 tbsp
Turmeric
½ tesp
Hing / Asafoetida
½ tesp

Procedure:
1. Wash and grate the gooseberry using the grater. Discard the seeds and eep it aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal and wait for popping.
3. Then add the curry leaves, red chilly (split it into two halves), chana dal and ground nuts, fry for a min.
4. Now add the turmeric and hing, fry for few seconds. Then add grated gooseberry and fry till raw smell goes off. It will take 2-3 mins.
5. Add cooked rice and mix it gently. Gooseberry rice is ready to serve.

       Serve it with potato fry or papad.

Gooseberry Juice with Honey



Ingredients:
Gooseberry
10
Jaggery
1 tbs
Honey
1 tbs
Ice Cubes
5
Water
¼ cup

Procedure:
1. Remove the seeds of the gooseberry and cut them into small pieces.
2. Dissolve the jaggery into ¼ cup of hot water and strain it using steel filter.
3. Blend the gooseberry pieces with jaggery syrup, honey and ice cubes. Serve it chill. Enjoy!!!

Gooseberry Pickle / Nellikkai Oorukai





Ingredients:
Gooseberry
10
Turmeric Powder
1 tes
Red Chilly Powder
2 tbs
Asafoetida
1 tbs
Ginger
2 inch
Lemon Juice
1 tbs
Gingelly Oil
5 tbs
Salt
To Taste
Mustard
1 tes
Fenugreek
1 tes
Cumin Seeds
1 tes

Procedure:
1. Wash the gooseberries and wipe them with kitchen towel.
2. Steam cook the gooseberries for 2 mins.
3. Peel the skin of the ginger and chop it into small pieces. Keep it aside.
3. Then remove the seeds of the gooseberries and cut them into small pieces.
4. Add turmeric powder and salt with the chopped gooseberries and mix them well. Keep it aside for one day.
5. Dry roast the ½ tes of mustard seeds, fenugreek and cumin seeds separately.
6. Powder them without water.
7. Heat the oil in a pan, add the remaining mustard seeds and wait for popping.
8. Then add the red chilly powder and asafetida. Fry them for 2 mins.
9. Now add the chopped ginger and fry it for 2 mins.
10. Then add the chopped gooseberries and mix them well. Switch off the stove.
11. Finally add the lemon juice and mix them well.  Store it in a airtight container.
     This pickle goes well with curd rice.
