Ingredients:
Split Green Gram / Paasipparuppu/ Moong Dal | ½ cup |
Oil | 1 tbs |
Cinnamom | 1 |
Cloves | 2 |
Bay Leaf | 1 |
Onion | 1 |
Green Chilly | 4 |
Tomato | 2 |
Turmeric Powder | ¼ tes |
Coconut Milk | ½ cup |
Curry Leaves | 1 Spring |
Coriander Leaves | Handful |
Salt | To Taste |
1. Wash and pressure cook the dal with ¼ cup of water for 2 whistle in high flame.
2. Chop the onion and green chillies into small pieces.
3. Heat the oil in a pan, add cinnamom, cloves, cardamom, bay leaves, green chillies and onion. Fry till the onion turns into golden color.
4. Then add the chopped tomatoes and fry till they becomes mushy.
5. Now add the cooked dal, turmeric powder and salt. Add water if necessary. Cook till it becomes thick.
6. Add the coconut milk and cook for a minute. Switch off the stove. Finally add the curry leaves coriander leaves.
This Dal Paaya goes well with Chapathi and Dosas.
