Ingredients:
Tomato | 4 |
Oil | 2 tbs |
Mustard Seeds | ½ tbs |
Urad Dal | ½ tbs |
Cinnamon | ½ inch |
Aniseeds | 1 tbs |
Cumin Seeds | 1 tbs |
Curry Leaves | 1 spring |
Onion | 2 |
Chilly Powder | 1 tbs |
Coriander Powder | 2 tbs |
Turmeric Powder | ¼ tbs |
Salt | To Taste |
Coriander Leaves | For Garnish |
Procedure:
1. Wash and mash the tomatoes.
2. Chop the onion into small pieces.
3. Heat the oil in a pan, and add mustard seeds and urad dal.
4. When it starts popping, add cinnamon, aniseeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion.
5. Fry till the onion becomes golden brown.
6. Then add the mashed tomatoes, red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt.
7. Fry for a minute.
8. Add little water (1/4 cup) and close the pan.
9. Stir the mixture for two or three times while the mixture is boiled for 10 minutes.
10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
This Tomato Thokku goes well with Dosas and chapathi.
