Healthy Recipe Hunt - 2

Dear fellow bloggers, I am very happy to announce "Healthy Recipe Hunt" event. I am fan of healthy recipes which are both tasty and nutritious. I am planning to conduct this event every month  with varying themes. For this month the theme of the event is Puffed Rice.

Puffed rice is a very popular cereal relished as a spicy and healthy snack. Puffed rice is a type of puffed grain made from rice; usually made by heating rice kernels under high pressure in the presence of steam, though the method of manufacture varies widely.

Puffed rice is used in breakfast and snack foods like bhel puri, a popular Indian chaat item. Also, this snack makes you feel full for a long time.

Puffed Rice based snacks are good instant cooking. Also if you're a health consicious, you'll love  puffed rice based snacks as Puffed Rice is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, sugar, and sodium.

Health Benefits of Puffed Rice:

Puffed rice is light and dry, ideal for obese people, as it is very low in calories and gives a feeling of fullness.

Puffed rice is high in iron and easy to digest.

It is an ideal and flexible snack food for a wheat and gluten-free diet.

One cup of puffed rice contains 56 calories consisting of 1 percent fat. The protein content in puffed rice is 6 percent by volume, according to Fat Secret website. Puffed rice contains no cholesterol or sodium. The carbohydrate content is equal to 12.57 g, which is 4 percent daily value based on a 2,000-calorie diet. One cup of puffed rice supplies many minerals, including 16 mg potassium, 4.4 mg iron, 14 mg phosphorus, 1 mg calcium and trace amounts of zinc, copper, manganese, fluoride and selenium. B vitamins found in puffed rice include thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, B-6 and folate, according to USDA National nutrition database.
