Sweet Potato / Sarkkaraivalli Kizhangu

Cumin Seeds

½ tbs

Salt

To Taste

Procedure:

1. Wash and cut the sweet potato into two halves.

2. Pressure cook them with little water and salt for 4-5 whistles in high flame.

3. Keep it aside for cooling down.

4. Peel the skin of the sweet potatoes and mash them into a fine paste. Keep it aside.

5. Grind the oats for few seconds.

6. Mix the ground oats powder with suji rava, rice flour, cumin seeds and salt. Mix them well.

7. Wash the green chilly, ginger, coriander leaves and curry leaves.

8. Now grind them into coarse paste without water and mix it with the flour mixture.

9. Peel the skin of the onion and cut them into thin and small pieces.

10. Now mix the chopped onion and mashed sweet potato with the flour mixture.

11. Make a dough by adding little water if necessary.Keep it aside for 5 mins.

12. Take a plastic sheet (cut a carry bag cover, clean and use), pour oil on the sheet and spread over.

13. Take a small ball of the dough and press with your fingers to flatten as thin as possible and round in shape.

14. Heat the tawa and transfer the rotti to the tawa. Pour oil and cook (medium flame only) both sides till it changes its color.

Serve it hot with sauce or chutney. This is one of the recipes of my Sithi.

Note :

1. Instead of sweet potato you can use potato.

2. Instead of Oats you can use Finger Millet Flour or Pearl Millet Flour.
