Dates Kuzhambu




Ingredients:
Dates
10 pieces
Oil
4 tbs
Green Chilly
2
Cashew Nut
5
Peanut
¼ cup
Grated Coconut
2 tbs
Mustard
¼ tbs
Fenugreek
½ tbs
Cumin Seeds
½ tbs
Sambar Onion
½ cup
Tomato
4
Turmeric Powder
¼ tbs
Coriander Powder
1 tbs
Red Chilly Powder
1 tbs
Tamarind
Gooseberry Size
Curry Leaves
2 spring
Coriander Leaves
Handful
Salt
To Taste
Procedure:
1. Heat 2 tbs of oil in a pan, add green chillies, cashew nuts, dates (without seeds), peanuts and grated coconut, fry for 3-4 mins.
2. Keep it aside for cooling. After cooled, grind them into fine paste by adding water.
3. Wash and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.
4. Chop the onion into small pieces.
5. Wash the tamarind, soak it into hot water for 5 mins and extract the pulp.
6. Heat the oil in the same pan, add mustard and wait for popping.
7. Then add fenugreek, cumin seeds and chopped sambar onion. Fry till the onion becomes golden color.
8. Add finely chopped tomatoes and fry till it becomes mushy.
9. Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder, tamarind pulp, salt and water. Fry for 3 mins.
10. Now add the ground mixture and bring to boil.
11. Finally garnish with coriander leaves.
This goes well with Idly and Dosas.
