Beetroot Poriyal




Vegetable oil

2 tbs

Sambar onion


Mustard seeds

½ tsp

Black gram (split)

¼ tsp

Bengal gram (split)

1 tsp

Red chilly


Curry leaves

2 spring

Grated coconut

2 tbs (optional)


To taste


1. Scrap the skin from the Beetroot and cut it into small pieces

2. Pressure cook with 1/4 cup of water for 1 whistle.
3. Heat Oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves, Red chillies and chopped onion and fry until it turns golden brown.
4. Then add boiled Beetroot with water and salt.

5. Fry until the water evaporate.

6. Finally add the grated coconut to it and fry for 3 mins.

tho no one in my house likes it much because of the color..I love it!...I make it the similar way..only I don't pressure cook it...directly make it in the pan!:))
